Of course Ha'aretz is against "bad" zionism (= religious zionism), it prefers the neutered kind that sits quitely in the corner until it can be used by socialist demogogues to suggest extensive social programs and wages that the state can no longer afford, or as a morality sop for leftist politicians who want to equate it with Palestinian nationism that is drenched in the blood of Israelis. Heaven forbid, religious zionists. As a secular Jew I say without them we would not have Jews today or a state, we would be one of the many ancient peoples who have ceased to exist. As a secular jew I say they have added value to and served Israel well, including in army units. And as a secular Jew who does not observe the commandments I say Haa'retz should be ashamed of its campaign against them. The real religious "nuts" Ha'aretz and the biggest threats to Israel are the ones leading Iran.
