You said "One thing I don`t understand is why the Gazans wouldn`t be allowed to import weapons (among other things) to defend themselves. ... Is the mighty IDF afraid to confront properly armed Palestinians?" You Anti-Israelis are incredible. Why should Israel allow Gazans to arm themselves. Why should Egypt allow Hamas (part of the Muslim Brotherhood) to arm themselves. Since Hamas began supporting Bedouin terror in the Sinai, Egypt closed the border and intercepted tons of explosives. If Hamas gets Katyushas, watch the Egyptians invite Israel to re-invade. Hamas actually made a big mistake in taking over Gaza by force. They have gone from being the legitimate government of Palestine to being a coup. We will see how much their 'peace enforcement' in Gaza, now that the pro-Pal reporters are too scared to enter. The clans refused to give up their arms voluntarily. I predict that the clans will be armed by Egypt and a new round of fighting will start. Give it months.
