Jewish communities, and it's when people like Defense Minister, Amir Peretz (a Moroccan, Mizrahi Labourite)reached the upper echelon of Israeli politics, that there's hope for younger generations of Mizrahim. Which Mizrahi family doesn't have a story of racism at work in Israel, past and present? Peretz did indeed achieve his cabinet position with his intellect & organizational skills, his people skills, his Arabic, his foreign policy outlook (leans towards reconciliation with our adversaries),etc. Today, Amir Peretz has learned as DM and as Kadima cabinet member, that "the old guard", so to speak, the U.S. administration, AIPAC, other mainstream organizations, have a genuine aversion to flagrant peaceniks - which should respond to Gideon Levy's criticism of his inaction up to now. Peace will come at their pace, not Amir Peretz's, but he's quite a good contributor from what I've seen. Looks hopeful!
