Promoting/bringing democracy is not possible. Giving freedom to somebody is not possible. These are things that must be born, blossom and prevail from deep inside. No awareness and free will, determination and struggle, then no value, a slave gets a gift and stays a slave. Promoting or bringing democracy is an insult, shows contempt, deprives other people of the right of shaping their own fate, is neo-colonial. For those who believe in best intentions and saving other people without asking first I have this quote from Goethe's Faust when Mephistopheles (the devil in a black cape) tells Faust who he is: "I am part of a force that always wants to bring good, but always brings evil". The only people who know this very strongly besides the Israeli' s in the ME are the Iranians. They did the Shah themselves. They will do the mollah' s themselves. But when the US actively start supporting resistance against mollah regime, they will support them till that stops. Wisdom.
