Why should the Falkland Islands not be a UK overseas territory? In a referendum held there last year asking its citizens whether they wanted to maintain the status quo, 1517 votes were cast (a turnout of more than 90 percent). 1,513 were in favour of this, there were three votes against and one spoilt ballot paper. This tells me that the people of the Falkland Islands are having their wishes respected. Do you think that Israel should hold a referendum for the Palestinians in the West Bank (maybe even Gaza) asking if they want an independent state - and then abide by the wishes of these voters??!!
