I appreciate the way the arguments are brought up and I don´t deny the logic in the conclusion. The reason it doesn`t convince me is, that it´s contrary to the most important values of our society: human rights, individual freedom and an enlightened State of Law. However you explain it, it ends up to a boy being hold down in pain to force genital cutting on him against his will. And it is about taking away a choice form him, a choice about his body, his sexuality and him entering a religion. A free country is about leaving the choice to the person concerned. We don´t pretend to know better what´s best for someone and therefore force him to do so, a free country is about enabling people to make own decisions. Circumcision is about cutting a piece of somebody else´s body, a piece of the most intimate part of the body, under heavy pain and possibly causing serious problems for his sexual life not only to him but also to his partner and so to every relation he will have lifelong - or he will not have, because of sexual problems. And you claim someone else should have the right to make this decision for him? I understand the arguments you give but the don´t work out if we keep the values we claim to cherish. You can´t hurt someons deeply and with possible lifelong serious consequences because you think that this may be in his best interest. That´s not enough to justify, not if you belive in human rights, individual freedom and an enlighted state of law.
