Eldar clearly states the obvious; namely, the retraction of the Goldstone report was not backed by the facts, given the fact there was review of any doctrine regarding military targets nor were there any credible investigation. The only argument that could be made in defense of Israel is that Israel pretended to investigate while Hamas made no investigation at all into the rocketing of civilian targets. It's sad that judge with his stature would turn turtle in the end and refuse questions by citing "imposed media silence."
