Gilad Shalit – a star is born I was for the negotiations with Hamas for the release of him though I felt that the price paid was way too high. Now that he is back the whole matter should have remained as a family private issue. Instead, I feel as if I am watching the program a STAR IS BORN. Prime Minister Netanyahu was waiting for him at the airport as if to welcome a hero and the whole event will probably be represented during the upcoming elections as the greatest government achievement. TV cameras follow Gilad to various events which are not related in any way to his capture nor to his release. Even the wedding of his brother got a media coverage. Now channel 10 is running a special TV show about him with promos which could be named GILAD SHALIT – A STAR IS BORN. I would like to remind those who have a short memory that three of his crew (out of four) got killed and no one is ever mentioning them. No matter what price may be offered, they will never come back. As an ex Armored forces officer, it is my opinion that Gilad Shalit failed to carry out the basic duty of a soldier and that is to fight. I don’t know what he is, but one thing I am certain of is that he certainly is not a hero and the whole festival around him is a disgrace.
