    Netanyahu and Lieberman and their buddies, secular as they are, are not simply beholden to the Rabbis because they must be because there is no religion/state separation, Netanyahu et al. WANT to be semi-beholden to these Rabbis--they want these Rabbis to make it "oh so complex, this problem of the 'Jewish State' and its vexing Arab population" because they ultimately do want an RACIALLY/ETHNICALLY pure Jewish state, a state free of Gentiles, however secular they really incline to be. In other words, for Netanyahu and Lieberman and their ilk, religion is just a handmaiden for their long term ethnic cleansing project.
