Having heard Gideon Levy's interview yesterday (17th July) on an Irish national radio station (Today FM), I wish to congratulate him on going against the current flow in Israel and expressing what can only be described as the sane view of what is now going on - that it is simply STUPID to wreck Lebanon. In the first place, the sane reaction to the abductions should have been to recognize that Israel's foes had put one (or two) over on it and that it had no rational choice but to consider ways of releasing at least a considerable number of its nine or ten thousand prisoners, most of whom, I believe, are internees. How about starting with the women and children? The British tried internment in Ireland and look what happened. Furthermore, it is no accident that the land grabber is a hate figure in Irish history, so we know well too that it is also STUPID to make that damned wall encroach around settlements and Palestinian farms. Swap prisoners now!
