But whether he is correct in his assessment that "the absolute majority of Israelis do not want just peace with the Palestinians" I am not certain. Israel has not yet had a debate over what "just" means anymore than the Palestinians have had one about "peace." Were I in charge on either side, I would have opened a back channel to discuss exchange of some majority Jewish areas of Palestine for the majority Palestinian area of East Jerusalem. Neither side is wise to seek everything for nothing, for that will never be perceived as 'just.'
