I am certainly an outsider to the insides of Israel; I am not a Jew, have no connection to Israel beyond what I read of it and know of it and it's effects on US policy. I have been epithetic towards the State of Israel as a salve, if you will, for the horrors of the holocaust, but I have also been appalled by what Israel has done to the Palestinians over the years. The one bright light has been Gideon Levy, who shows me that Israel is still capable of democratic ideals and liberal thinking. Without that,I see little future for this growing fundamentalist state.
