The Sudeten were never 'German nationals' before Hitler annexed the Sudetenland in 1938. Prior to the creation of Czechoslovakia they had always been, together with the Czechs and many other ethnic groups, part of the Habsburg Empire and the Austrian-Hungarian Dual Monarchy which ended at the end of WW I. Hitler, btw, compared the Sudeten to the Palestinians, who were both left alone in their struggle against Czech and Jewish nationalism, expansionism and oppression. Lieberman's analogy is quite reasonable, but not exactly flattering. Iran, I suppose, plays the role of Hitler in Lieberman's view.
