The problem I see is that a few years back when the world's liberals were wept with compassion for Darfur, (remember Darfur?) Israel was happy to pronounce it's deep concern and compassion for the people of Darfur for the pleasure of drawing attention to a most despicable Arab regime. All of this rending of cloths and beating of breasts led the people of Darfur to believe that Israelis actually cared and would help. Then they risked it all to show up on Israel's doorstep only to discover that in fact Israelis hated them and used them for political punching bags. Perhaps the people of Southern Sudan learned from that, or perhaps they will think that they might drop by Israel for a job and some education . . .
