The world has indeed forgotten Gaza. After Israel pulled out it DID close off the Strip to the outside world. Gaza's life depends on export of agricultural produce and the development of tourism. By obstructing the building of the seaport near Beach camp, destroying the runway and forcing the closure of Gaza International Airport and making the cargo and commercial crossings all but impassable Israel carries a heavy burden of responsibility for the current chaos and poverty. Israel's boycot of the Palestinian government and the withholding of millions of US dollars it owes to the PA have further contributed to the breakdown of public services and law and order and fuelling a crisis in Gazan society. In this pressure cooker the negative aspects of Palestinian tribal society have come to the surface: internal feuding and infighting between the two major factions, clan warfare and crime and despicable 'honour'-killings.
