    Obama & Clinton should be furious at themselves for torpedoing Israeli-Palestinian negotiations with their amaterurish demand for a "total settlement freeze." Even Yasser Arafat never put forward such a demand. Even more absurd is blaming Barak for Arafat's refusal-- in the closing days of Bill Clinton's administration-- to agree to "end the conflict" in exchange for major Israeli concessions. It remains to be determined whether Obama's policies flow from ignorance of the region or animus towards Israel, or from a dangerous mixture of both
