There is a Jewish nation which used to be more homogenous (similar racial Semetic traits) who were indigenous to the region of today's Israel and who's main day to day language was Aramaic but the religious sector also knew Hebrew. Ancient Israel, was first a tribal society. However, later King David centralized the Jewish tribes by establishing Jerusalem as its religious and political capital - thus developing its nation-state identity over 3000 years ago. There's nothing invented here - there's physical evidence of archaeological First Temple strata of ancient society of the Jewish people and our Torah, relates as the documented evidence, which is exactly the same Torah used wherever Jewish communities resided - not one word is different. My Jewish ancestry is of Babylonian-exile (Iraq today) which was forcably exiled from this region of Israel upon destruction of the First Temple. My great great grandparents apparently gave some financial support to rabbis who travelled from Jerusalem. Now I, despite being born in modern Israel, physically look Semetic and my nephew of Polish-Russian Jewish ancestry, also looks Semetic - but our skin colour varies. There's nothing racist about this - it's a commonality of shared Jewish national and religious origins which is distinct. Whether one observes the 613 commandments of the Torah or just one, is their prerogative, but don't deny the nation's existence over 3,000 years ago and say it's invented.
