As a Catholic whose mentor was much like Rabbi Elon--- charismatic, reaching out to young men who were to one degree or another troubled, dedicated, and so on, I truly resonate with this article. So many of the patterns are the same--- the sharing of life issues, sometimes late at night, the striving to get a bit of one-on-one time, and so forth. I, too, reacted in disbelief when an accuser came forward. Eventually I came to believe him, and realized some "grooming" behiavior and one attempt upon myself by my mentor. Then, over the years, more and more accusers came forward, and more truth about the mentor's history of treatment for inappropriate behavior came to the fore. My deepest sympathies extend to any survivors of Elon, and also to those whose faith has been shaken by these revelations.
