I'm not sure why this is posted in Haaretz which is supposed to be liberal right? Unless this article is meant to be ironic? ( but I don't think so) The freeze is legal, but that doesn't mean the settlements are. Israel has formally annexed East Jerusalem but NOT the Westbank! Yet in violation of amongst others the Geneva-convention Israel planted it's civilians in Westbank territory. Obviously the Palestinians did not take that kindly. So Israel took rigourous securitymeasurements which have been mostly on for decades and severely limit the freedom of the Westbank Palestinians in every way. And despite this all Karni Eldad has the gall to compare the plight of the settlers with that of a brave struggle for civil liberties in the 1950's. It is quite sickening
