Let's say is very true that this post of Cipora is far more "poetical" than "correct", "wise" or "precise". It surely "wears the radiant crown of victory", of a righteous provincial fool clinging onto self-serving myth concocted by Herzlian hagiographers like Alex Bein, the editor of the abridged version of Herzl's Diaries. Even sympathetic Israeli scholars of Herzl (e.g S. Avineri, let alone Kronberg, D. Stewart or Polkehn) today admit that the Dreyfus element is a big bluff. Herzl thought Dreyfus was guilty, and kept thinking so well after the truth was a banal fact in the wide public. Sorry to ruin Cipora's myth of Herzl and to ruin your myth of Cipora. Learn to distinguish poetry from history. And don't forget to read the unabridged Diaries (Herzl Press, 1960) of the poor Vienna megalomaniac who counted on being crowned as a Jewish monarch, ruthlessly "crushing all political opposition" with the help of "well-oiled secret police". Have a nice, sobering reading you two.
