Israel's useful 'existential' threat is not proving so useful after all. Are some nations (Russia/China)growing tired of Americas constant need to invent excuses to dominate the region. If Iran is such a threat, then perhaps the US should have taken up Iran's offer of talks back in 2003, when the Nuclear issue as well as Irans support of Hizbollah and Jihad in the Territories and the prospect of Iranian support for a 2 state solution, were all put up for discussion. However that would have put the US goal of hegemony of the entire region in jeapordy. Which kind of begs the question. Perhaps the US is THE MAIN threat to the region, and hadn't Israel better get out from under their coatails or risk taking the flak for them?
