Dear Mr. Schiff, I am a long time fan of your analyses. I often cite you and Haaretz as proof that Israel is more rational than its US supporters. I am sorry to see that you are egging Uday Olmert and Usay Peretz on. the shiites in Lebanon are with Hezbollah. Hell, even the Christians are with Hezbollah. These dumb attempts to eradicate Hezbollah are like saying we'll eliminate the Zionists. Eliminating the Zionists means eliminating the Jews. It is the same with Hezbollah. Eliminating Hezbollah means eliminating the Shiites (and frankly most of the Lebanese). Hezbollah rockets are not THAT much of a threat. This is NOT an existential war for the Jews. The indiscriminate bombings of Lebanon are bad for Israel, and if they are discriminate then they are war crimes. I still want to have some faith that some Israelis are rational. Not every pin prick of a Jew's foot is another Holocaust. Without a just solution for the Palestinians, Israel has no moral high ground.
