and this is only one opinion, but Israelis need to move beyond their paranoid view of themselves as victims and being persecuted. The world is not against Israel. The world, increasingly is against injustice. Occupation and colonisations are wrong in a civilized world. World opinion wants freedom and democracy for everyone. World opinion supports the Egyptians, Libyans, Bahrainians and all those who fight to be free from tyranny. And that is why they support Palestinians. The Palestinians are the victims; Israsl is the oppressor. The world has changed. Technology means revolutions happen through the internet and more people after the appalling attack on Gaza, named after a children's game for heaven's sake, now know the reality of Israel's occupation and colonisation of Palestine. This will not stop. There is a movement throughout the Middle East for freedom and justice and the world supports that. At this point Israel is a tyrant like all of the other Middle Eastern tyrants who are now being overthrown. Only the Israeli people can take a stand and bring justice to the Palestinians and legitimacy and honour to themselves. As an occasional commenter on Haaretz I hope you can do it. I , like many others, do not want Israel destroyed but we will not support an apartheid State and we will not support the continued human rights abuses and war crimes carried out against the palestinian people.
