As for allowing the Red Cross access to him, the big problem is that the Israelis can't be trusted not to try to mount a rescue raid if they knew his position. The good news, however, is that with Hamas busy rounding up all the spies, stoolies and snitches in the pay of Israel in Gaza, soon the area may become a black hole for Israeli intelligence. At this point it may become possible to allow the Red Cross/Crescent access.
