What does Israel want from Syria? (1) cease support of Hizbollah. (2) cease "sheltering terrorists". (3) Stay out of Leabnon and Lebanese politics. (4) break alliance with Iran. What does Syria want from Israel? (1) Return the Golan. Israel's problem became how to get everything they want from Syria while giving nothing in return. Israel has encountered this sort of problem many times and has often gotten what they wanted in exchange for nothing. In fact, Israel has trained Americans to think that this is a good deal for America. Israel says, "If you give us loads of money, we will spend some of it in America, aiding the economy". What a deal. Back to Syria..... With Assad fighting for his political life and perhaps his real life, Israel's wants are being, at least partly, met. Additionally Meshal is out and perhaps even on the run. As long as Syria is in civil war, they can provide little aid and support to Iran or Hizbollah. Best of all, it cost Israel nothing but the supply of arms to the Syrian rebels.
