The writer overstates the significance of this transport. The estimated 500 tons (mostly used cars and trucks) of "aid" is but a fraction of what Israel allows through every day. If people are so concerned about the welfare of the Palestinians of Gaza (who, by the way, live far better than the average Egyptian), why do they not concern themselves with the Palestinians living in Lebanon, whose lives are far more constrained? As to the "Elders" - the hubris of that collection of political has-beens (or never-beens) continues to astonish. They have nothing positive to contribute to the matter.
