I lived in Flint when it was a booming GM town. It was not much different than the coal mining towns in SW Pa except there was not a company store. It was a town that GM built. At least 70% of the bustling town worked for GM or for GM suppers. Maybe that is the message of it's demise - don't let a corporation build ten factories and warehouses and be the only employment in the town. And, go to college so you are prepared to move on.
