Segev's conclusion: start this whole charade from the beginning, only with Hamas. Then, 25 years from now, when Hamas collapses, you can begin again with Islamic Jihad. 2)That which makes Palestinians distinct from Jordanians, Syrians, and Lebanese is wholly a function of Palestinian-Israeli contact. If Meir didn't believe in a distinct Palestinian nationalism, 25 years ago, perhaps it's because there wasn't one.
