The big problem in the "lack of engineers" is not really a lack, but rather a too greedy policy by companies. They keep firing experienced engineers in their 40's because they have reached high salaries and replace them by young 0-3 year exp eng, ready to work for half salary. It is high time for the High Tech companies to understand that instead of keeping trying to maximize the profit for themselves only (share holders) that they need to value also the experienced employees. Instead of crying that thare is not enough young students to hire, just stop firing experienced people in their 40's and stop throwing the CV of the 40+ year old applicant to High Tech positions.
