This is an historic moment. Haaretz shows its true colors and admits that Rabin was not enough of a leftist for their epicurean tastes. They object to the whitewashing canonization of the Rabin Legacy not because the man was a drunk a murderer a coward and a thief, (all of these are well documented) but rather because he was not "serious enough" about peace. This proves what I have been saying for a long time. The Israel left has been radicalizing for quite some time until we have reached the point when the hero and poster boy of the Israeli Left, the venerable and almost saintly Yitzchak Rabin is no longer good enough for them. It proves that what was once the Labor party is now Meretz or even farther to the left and the Likud has replaced Labor as the standard Left wing party and that the "far right partiss" have taken the place of the traditional likud. Sharon has gone back to his Mapai roots and now he is being compared to Rabin, not by angry settlers but by well known Leftists. Even exalted by them as he was willing to take steps that even Rabin realized were foolish and suicidal. The Israeli Left needs to make a "Cheshbon Nefesh" on the Eve of Rosh Hashana and look deeply into themselves. Perhaps they will realize just how far they have veered off course when they now consider Rabin to be a right wing militant... We truly live in an upside down world.
