After Arafat robed his people mecilessly of the aid that was given generously to help sustain them and better their lives (with the not so clandestine help of Abbas) it was Fayyad who gave a glimer of hope that the looting and embezlement will stop. That corruption will be erradicated and that maybe, just maybe, things will get better. But no hope of that anymore. The looters and mafiosi of the PA won. They managed to get rid of one of the very very few (maybe the only) honest and worthy man amongst them. This has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than the very rot at the heart of the Palestinian leadership (and the leadership of Arab nations serrounding us.... The old and the new which is worst still).... Abbas instigated the long imprisonment and death of one honest chairman of the Palestinian national fund who tried to stop the robbers and thieves at the top of the PLO - to stop them taking the money for themselves and live the highlife while their people live in poverty and squalor (not because of any so called occupation but because these leaders took the money meant to help ease their burden, make their lives better and build the foundation for a state and looted it!) Maybe it's about time the people rise and force the change: no more corrupt dictators. No more looters and thieves and no pretend religious dictators to take their place... and make things so much worse!) Maybe for once they will choose someone (like Fayyad maybe?) who will actually honestly do his best for them, do right by them. Was it Aba Even who said that the Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Maybe it's hightime that they won't miss the opportunity. For their own sake.
