There have not been 'more than 30 pilots' killed in accidents involving the V-22. The first, of the number 5 aircraft (as seen on YouTube) was caused by improper wiring of two out of three vyros in the fly-by-wire control system. No one was killed. The second involved aircraft 4 and caused by a oil leak. Only two of the crew were pilots. The third was carrying two pilots, crew chief, and a load of marines. The accident was due to the pilots flying into a ring vortice state and resulting loss of control. This accident accounted for the majority of all Osprey casualties. The last crash killed 4, of which 2 were pilots. The cause was poorly routed hydraulic lines which chaffed causing loss of control.
