To send a message to Hamas, a reasonable 1st reply would be to completely destroy the unused ruins of Gaza airport at Dahaniyeh with a 50-plane air raid that obliterates the runway so completely that it can never be rebuilt. Ditto the foundations laid for the Gaza seaport that was never finished. Katyushas/Grads are more complex that Qassams, and can't be built in Gaza, they have to be imported. Let Hamas know that Israel will NEVER let Gaza have harbor/airports that can be used to import weapons. If smuggling even a few Katyushas (they weigh about 250 lbs. each) continues, the answer should be to PERMANENTLY cut Gaza in two, just North of Rafah. End of smuggling. Any firing of a Katyusha into Israel from a heavily populated Gaza town should evoke return fire to shred everything within 50 meters of radar-detected firing points; not retaliation or "collective punishment", Israel has legal right to protect its people by quickly destroying launch sites, regardless of collateral damage.
