It is depressing to see the advocates of bullying tactics yet again trying to sell their compromised ware. A large scale invasion of Gaza will not be a walk over, as idiots like Hamil at #35 seem to think. There will be a lot of blood shed and Israel will meet determined foes, if the contest is between M-16s. Of course the only sensible and logical way out would be a negotiated cease-fire and talks aimed at reaching some sort of modus vivendi between Israel and Hamas. Peace for Sderot and an end to the economic blockade and allowing Gazans to work and rebuild their shattered economy, give them the feeling that they have something to lose. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any decent Israeli government on the horizon. I suspect what the state wants is to keep the tension high, continue to play victim (with the residents of Sderot cast in the role of unwilling extras) and use it as a smoke screen behind which the facts on the ground in occupied Palestine continue to be created.
