Typical response: when you can't dispute the Jewish connection to the land, the solution is to dejudaize the Jews. They aren't like the ancient Jews? I hope not- much of the world has progressed a lot over thousands of years but, of course, there are still places in the world that have not evolved and this is seen as a virtue by some. On the other hand, let's see if they are like the ancient jews: they practise the same religion, use shekels as currency just like in the bible, carry the same ancient biblical names, continue many of the same traditions and customs, many still adhere to traditional ancient dietary restrictions, and they are still under siege from hostile neighbors who covet Jewish land, etc.
