1. Give up right of return? - Even the European court of Justice in a less complex and much more recent has not found that such a right existed (see Cypress/Turkey decision). If there is - what is the right of return of Jews to Arab countries ? How far does this right extend ? (should Jews be able to obtain plots in Spain and citizenship), and what about the 100s of Million of people in virtually every country in the world which suddenly claim this right. For Akiva Eldar to use a 'manufactured right' - one enjoyed by no other then the Palestinian (a very peculiar kind of right) (same as the UN definition and Authority re Palestinian which created a broad definition of refugee specifically only for Palestinians - enjoyed by no other refugee) - so the issue is the Palestinians are giving up something they manufactured ?? - and that is a stumbling block ? 2. The UN original partition was exactly on the basis of ethno-religious basis - it is the foundation of the 2 states (a 'homeland the Jewish people' as the UN put it forward) - is is the basis also for a Palestinian state. The Palestinian constitution in waiting (2003 - not amended since) -- is clear that they see a Palestinian state as Arab, Islamic, based on Sharia law, committed towards achieving Arab Unity , etc.
