Netanyahu states: "The connection Israel has to Jerusalem is extremely deep and it surpasses any connection any other country has to a city." The statement perfectly captures the overriding sentiment of this administration. We Israelis alone are connected to Jerusalem. We are not beholden to the same set of international humanitarian and human rights laws (and to speak of them is anti-semitism). Our historical narrative is the only accurate one. Our relationship with the U.S. should not be dependent on U.S. national interests (unlike all other nations). This administration, through its words and actions, does not make Israeli a light unto the nations, but attempts to make it superior to all nations.
