Kosher restaurants aren't "cool" enough for Haaretz and the "in" crowd it caters to on Sheinken Street. But rest assured, there are plenty of excellent kosher restaurants around israel. My personal favorite is Makom B'sejera in Ilaniya (near Tzomet Golani) in the Galil. The foods just amazing and the atmosphere is lovely. Ilaniya is one of the earliest Jewish agricultural villages in the Galilee and Ben-Gruion lived and worked as a farmer there for a while. The restaurant is in one of the old farm houses and there's a lot of old BG and farming memorabilia on hand. Jerusalem has many exellent kosher restaurants as does Eilat and Herzliah. Of course there are numerous., family run, grill places around the county many of which are kosher. The Jewish immigrants from Morraco, Tunisia, Algeria, Yemen, Iraq, etc... brought amazing quisine with them when they made aliyaand since they tend to be more traditional than Ashkenzim, their restaurants are often kosher.
