We are at the stage where everybody already *is* talking to everybody at one remove, through intermediaries, even avowed enemies such as Israel and Hamas. So, messily, without ideological purity, everybody will continue to talk to everybody, with a little less buffer. That's all. And when the next all-parties sit-down is scheduled, despite his statements to the contrary, Abbas will be communicado with Haniyeh. This is what is happening. Now is now. Oslo is dead as a defined process but, when you think about it, so what? Israel cannot even think about reimposing a formal occupation on the West Bank much less Gaza and its system of containment: walls, barriers, restricted roadways, restricted access, artificial boundaries for existing settlements on the West Bank do not offer Israel a path to closure, to actual unconcested control of the West Bank. And, Israel is hardly an occupying force in Gaza, only contains. The "matzav" for Israel propels outreach.
