Well, what do you think the released prisons' sentence will be? 2 years? 3 years? The Palestinian side is trying to get those who will never see their families again out of prison, not the ones that will be released in 3 years or 5 years. It makes sense! Why would someone negotiate over a prisoner that will be released in few years? If Jonathan Pollard was due to be released in 2 years, would Israel be actively lobbying to release him? Not really.
