Syrian demonstrators have been heard chanting 'Christians to Beirut... Alawis to the coffin'. What many people worry about in Damascus is a total disintegration of society. In other words, the cycle of violence in Syria could be impossible to stop. That this protracted civil war could last for years... and a spill-over could effect Lebanon, Jordan or Iraq. In fact, eventually Syria could resemble a failed state like Yemen. Even if Hezbollah openly commits its proxy militia to support Assad. There seems to be situation developing in Syria that would be of no benefit to either the West or Tehran.
