"We lost our hope in this coalition," the U.S. official told the Israeli. "We simply have no more expectations." // Why lose hope? Did the US try putting PRESSURE on Israel? Only pressure works when dealing with ideologues! Ideologues believe in their ideology, not in rational arguments. Relying on Barak to "convince" Netanyahu (by rational arguments) to move towards peace, only shows the basic ineptitude of this US administration. Obama should learn from Jim Baker! He put pressure on PM Shamir, refused some loan guarantees to Israel, and the non-ideological Israeli public got the message and brought Shamir down. This is the way to work with Israeli right-wing ideologues.
