Europe, and mostly the European left believe in dialogue. That dialogue can solve all, or at least should be tried. Do they think it is helpfull? That by dialogue you can unradicalize Hamas? It is a sign of weakness, cowardness? Or is it to appease the muslim population in Europe. Probably a bit of all of them. In Spain now there is a whole discussion about the leftist gouverment proposing to discuss with ETA the basque terrorist organisation. Which do almost every month an attack somewhere in Spain(usually without victims). And it divides the country in 2, some are for it, some against it. However the difference with Hamas, as mentioned in another posting, is that ETA, IRA, the Corsica liberation mouvement,.. do not vow the destruction of the "occupier".

Dani Dayan speaking at the Israel Democracy Conference, 2015.

'Let's drop the illusion, settler leader Dani Dayan won't serve as envoy to Brazil'

MK Tzachi Hanegbi says Israel shouldn't waste time waiting for Brasilia to accept Dayan's appointment, and instead assign him to a diplomatic position 'in a capital no less important.'
