He is not been put in prison indefinitely, he had a full trial in the civilian courts ( not a military tribunal ) and sentenced to life in prison for 5 counts of murder + another 40 years for attempted murder. If we release Bargouti because we feel sorry for him then it undermines the entire legal process because every time somebody is found guilty of a crime and jailed for it if people start saying its not fair to lock him up he does deserve to be released well we release him. Either we have a legal system that treats everybody equally and a punishment is a punishment or we say that the punishment dished out to any individual should be based on public opinion.
