The website of the French consulate (http://www.consulfrance-jerusalem.org/-Organigramme-) indicates that Mrs Castaing position is Attaché to Humanitarian and Social Cooperation. She was doing her job catering to locals that were being inhumanly displaced. I won't even go into whether they were right to be displaced or whether it's right for Israel to occupy the land. I am saying that as displaced inhabitants of an occupied territory, they have rights (namely, being given supplies) that were not guaranteed to them by the evicting soldiers, so the international community stepped in. They didn't try to stop the eviction or make a scandal about how this shouldn't be happening in the first place. They were delivering supplies! Maybe a scuffle happened and the diplomat got a bit aggressive. But that isn't what it's about, this mini-scandal is about foreign aid being withheld from the displaced persons.
