Outside of North American usage, a ladybug is typically called a ladybird. In German, the beetle is Marienkäfer (nouns are capitalized.) And, in modern Greek, the word "red" - as in red wine - is κόκκινος (KOkkinos) - in Cypriote patois pronounced KOchino, showing centuries-old Italian influence.
