Angry journalists, who initially boycotted the session, describe subcommittee's claims to be part of a 'witch hunt,' and slam Israel's 'authoritarian' efforts to clamp down on the media.14:27 09.02.16 | 2 comments
...wasn't the whole idea of Zionism to change the demographic of a place in order to change things? Now when the Haredim are performing their own little internal Zionist exercise the rest of Israeli society goes crazy. I dislike Haredim, they are extremist and they are very often hostile to non-Haredi people, Israeli or not. But this whole thing is a bit rich coming from Israelis; imagine if the Arabs in Netanya protested the mass immigration of Jewish people on the grounds that they would change the demographic and culture of the town...and imagine if their protests were successful...the Israelis whining about Haredim now would not exist, or they certainly wouldn't exist in a Jewish Israel. Does anything exist in Israel that doesn't smack of irony?
