If I’d have known that the store was open, I would have gone there. Instead, I went to the competition (Ace, at Regba), knowing they were open. Home Depot offers me a discount that Ace doesn’t. ERIKA, are you telling me/us that I’m not free to buy where I want when I want? The store “in question” is at least 300 meters from the closest residential neighborhood. It has access from the outside of the mall so that its opening doesn’t require anything else to happen. If Christians or Muslims OR EVEN JEWS want to work any given day of the week and enable the capitalist world to move forward, WHAT BUSINESS IS IT OF MINE OR YOURS. The law protects us so that we must have one day of rest per week. If someone considers Friday, Saturday, or Sunday their day – for whatever their reason – that is their own BUSINESS; NOT YOURS OR MINE. No one is allowed to force any employee to work either 7 days a week or on their chosen day! For that, I AM WILLING TO STRUGGLE! Why must religious tolerance only be directed to those who are either religious, or of one religion or another? WHY ISN’T TOLERANCE MUTUAL TO ALL? PLEASE BE TOLERANT OF MY/OUR DESIRE NOT TO PRACTICE YOUR RELIGION? Akko is a multi-cultural city and the hub of a mostly secular Western Galilee. As such, leave each to honor the feelings of others and close your own store, if you so wish. Don’t push us down that “slippery slope” toward theocracy!
