Angry journalists, who initially boycotted the session, describe subcommittee's claims to be part of a 'witch hunt,' and slam Israel's 'authoritarian' efforts to clamp down on the media.14:27 09.02.16 | 2 comments
As a secular European I must not, and will not, comment on matters religious or theological in Israel. However, I am totally sympathetic to the concerns of citizens about sharing the duties at a time when all Israelis benefit from the protection given by the IDF. What has become of the original version of the act is a legal and cowardly farce, and Mr Lapid and his colleagues should think twice before they put their names to it. The whole matter reminds me of a friend who admitted ruefully: "....and then we decided to compromise, and did what my wife wanted."
