Most the haredim do work and do serve in the army, its only a small minority who don't but the haredi all pretty much dress and look the same with their beards and black hats so they all get branded as people who don't work. Sadly thanks to a minority all haredi have got a bad name. Nobody takes any notice of the majority though because there is nothing contreversial about their lives because like secular people they do work for a living the problem once though stand out like a sore thumb with their attempts to bring about segregation in the street, their fear of technology or any knowledge thats not Torah so don't paint all haredi with the same brush.
